Maid Academy Cafe

Maid Academy Cafe is a non-profit anime maid cafe in the Orange County and LA area. Their main values are creativity and diversity, including people in different colors, sizes, and genders. The profits they do receive go back to the cafe for events and into fostering out and caring for cats. Since they profits they receive goes to foster cats, cats is a motif for the cafe.

Logo Redesign

Original logo

Since I am a member of the maid cafe, I volunteered to help re-brand the logo and provide my services, such as social media management, especially for stories, merchandise creation, and assets for social media and streaming. The “head maid” felt the old logo need a refresher, especially as competition was starting to get more intense.

Peach

Pink

I wanted to keep the main logo the same with a few minor differences. First thing I wanted was to make the colors far more vibrant. I went with a pink version, which is more popular color for maid cafes, and a peach color, like the old logo, but more saturated. A vote was placed and the pink won. Next was to add a more fun details to the logo that added some of unique features. I took the lace from the original and added paw prints into the design of the lace. I also wanted to clean up the minor details that slightly threw me off, such as the triangle and the A and M of the logo not being rounded and lined up perfectly.

For the text portion, I did give minor varieties of the older logo to see what the head maid would like most. My personal two favorites were 1 and 6, but mentioned I can add certain elements she preferred if one did not catch her eye. After her and the other top members discussing, they preferred 6 with the logo.

Twitch Assets

The streaming screen for Maid Academy

Offline “Night” Screen

Be Right Back “Day” Screen

Starting Soon “Morning” Screen

Next thing on my “To Do” list was to make Twitch assets so that way they could stream. What the head maid wanted was a vague starry or cloudy sky that fit the color palette of the brand. I decided to add more “quirky” elements such as the cat clouds in the sky, which will hold “New Subscriber” and “New Follower” name in it. The idea after was that the Starting Soon and Offline screens were of the sun rising and the night sky or sun setting.

Tote Design

Rough Sketch

Design Realized on Illustrator

The “head maid” is wanting to focus on making merchandise. She did not have an initial idea of what she wanted, but when presented with a couple of ideas, she picked an “Alice in Wonderland” theme with the group mascot. After a sketch of the idea I had in mind, she agreed to the design. I went into Illustrator to make the first initial design.

Design Fully Illustrated and Colored

She liked the design, but said it needed more detail. After adding more cafe components, flowers and other stuff to fill the space, she was happy with the design.

Table Cloth Design

The main design of the table cloth

The newest thing that we are working on is the table runner for display when we run the booth at cons. It’s still a work in progress, but this is the latest update. The “head maid” wanted her mascot on top of the logo. I drew it on Clip Paint Studio and did a couple of versions. I decided to add the lace detail instead of making it just pink.
